Alumni Awards

The DWS Alumni Association presented its inaugural awards at the Homecoming game on October 19, 2012.
The DWS Alumni Association has established two alumni awards to recognize alumni who have demonstrated outstanding leadership, achievement, and influence in their field and/or in their community activities.  Two awards will be given - Outstanding Young Alumni Award and a Distinguished Alumni Award.  The DWS Alumni Association needs your help in nominating those alumni worthy of such honor.  Nominations are being accepted for the 2013 awards.

Outstanding Young Alumni Award

To be selected for the Young Alumni Award, a nominee must be a DWS alumnus/alumna, be 40 years or younger at the time of nomination and:

  • have achieved excellence in his/her business, profession or vocational endeavors and/or
  • have made outstanding contributions to community service locally, regionally, nationally and/or globally
  • be a person of such integrity, stature, and demonstrated ability that the faculty, staff, students and alumni of DWS will take pride in and be inspired by his/her accomplishments.

Who can be nominated? 

Any former student of DWS who is 40 years or younger and attended DWS for at least one academic year.

Distinguished Alumni Award

This award recognizes alumni who:

  • have provided outstanding leadership or attained recognition on a local, regional, national or international level within their profession or business and/or
  • have provided extraordinary service to their community
  • are persons of such integrity, stature, and demonstrated ability that the faculty, staff, students and alumni of DWS will take pride in and be inspired by their accomplishments.

Who can be nominated?

Any former student of DWS who has completed at least one academic year at DWS.

Who determines who is selected for the awards?

A.

The alumni award winners are determined by a selection committee appointed by the Executive Board of the Alumni Association. The committee will include members of the current Alumni Board, current or former members of the Board of Trustees of Deerfield-Windsor School, and members of the Advancement Office.

What is the schedule for determining the award winners?

A.

Nominations may be made until August 1st each year. Recipients will be announced at the beginning of the new academic school year. Award winners will receive recognition and be announced at the Homecoming football game.

How do I nominate a candidate?

A.

Nominations may be submitted via an online form or you may send a letter of nomination, indicating the name and class year of your nominee, and a brief description of the nominee's qualifications for the award. If you have a copy of your nominee's vitae and/or list of accomplishments, please enclose that as well.

Do I need to resubmit my nomination each year?

A.

Nominations are automatically rolled over for consideration for the following year's alumni awards. It is not necessary to re-nominate a candidate each year.
