The Deerfield-Windsor Way
There is a mystique about

Deerfield-Windsor School. There is an aura here that fills the atmosphere within its walls. Students cannot avoid it. One cannot shut it out. As if by osmotic influence, it permeates the consciousness. We speak of it as The Deerfield-Windsor Way. We absorb it into our spirit. It seems to impact students’ development and to direct, at least in a measure, the course of their lives. I continually hear from graduates that DWS made a significant contribution to their lives, and they are eternally grateful.
How do we account for this? There is a philosophy behind this educational institution. It is not openly articulated. It is tacitly revealed. DWS has lived upon the atmosphere of opportunity. Its breath exudes its compassion and concern for every student to be given the opportunity of a quality college preparatory education that loves the mind and enhances a nature of life marked by enduring values of personal worth and social service.
The essence of its philosophy has always had at its center a commitment to informing and training the mind in intellectual development. DWS takes just pride in knowing that its graduates move on to other worthy institutions of higher learning well-prepared to engage the demand of academic excellence.
DWS accepts the challenge of keeping both the best of the past and the opportunity of the future in view.
The Deerfield-Windsor Way is not daily articulated in words. It is daily exposed in what DWS stands for as experienced in the interplay between faculty and among the students themselves. That is education at its best. That is education with a difference. That is education at Deerfield-Windsor.
Deerfield-Windsor School admits students of average and above average ability based on past educational achievement. When appropriate, a satisfactory transcript from previous schools is required for admission. Evidences of good citizenship and serious commitment to education are important in the decision for acceptance. Students’ performances on an entrance exam and participation in an interview with a member of the Admissions Committee will also serve as factors in the admission process.
Generally, students are not accepted for the senior year only. Students who are newcomers to the area or area students who would be assets to the school may be considered for acceptance in the twelfth grade.
Deerfield-Windsor School admits qualified students without regard to race, creed, color, or national origin.
