Benson Knight ‘06 recently won the region competition for the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival for his set design for Vinegar Tom. As the Region IV (the Southeast – from Louisiana to Virginia) winner in his category, he now advances to the national competition to take place this April in Washington, DC.
Benson was actually nominated for two separate set designs – Vinegar Tom and The Pajama Game, but it was the set design for Vinegar Tom that won him the Region IV title.
Benson is the son of John and Marie Knight (our kindergarten teacher). He holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Scenic Design from the University of Central Florida in Orlando and has enjoyed theatrical collaborations with Williamstown Theatre Festival, Orlando Repertory Theatre and the Zora Neal Hurston Festival. This past summer Benson completed a Design/Paint Internship at Williamstown in Massachusetts.
