Last Friday, students, faculty, and volunteers welcomed grandparents to campus for a day filled with special programs and moments. On the Lower School, students performed favorite TV show themes, with every grade having a turn on the stage. Under the guiding hand of Mrs. Giddens, these elementary school children did a wonderful job. The fifth grade closed out the show with their rendition of "Home", a song made popular by American Idol winner Phillip Phillips.
After the show, grandparents visited classrooms, where these young students shared the gifts and projects they had created for their guests.
In the afternoon, grandparents gathered in the Henry gym on the Middle/Upper campus. After opening remarks by Headmaster Davies, the students arrived to greet their grandparents. Grandparents were able to join their grandchildren in two abbreviated classes, before returning to the gym for a performing arts showcase featuring the chorus singing “Everything Old is New Again” and the band performing several of their pep-band numbers as well as a rendition of Journey’s “Don’t Stop Believing.” Those selections were followed by a brief pep rally that included our cheerleaders, danceline, and the band.
We are thankful for everyone who helped to make this such a wonderful day for our special guests! We also want to thank our grandparents for coming, and for being so supportive of our school!
