Graduation 2017
Graduation 2017

With a sense of adventure, facing the next phase of their lives, the Deerfield-Windsor School Class of 2017 celebrated the end of their high school years in the traditional graduation ceremony on May 21 in the W. T. Henry Gymnasium. With a mixture of anticipation and anxiety, the 73 graduates marched through the doors of DWS for the last time as students. Presenting the invocation, Mary Rachel Bonner encouraged her classmates to stay true to themselves and to remember where they came from, and to walk with "great love for all the people we encounter." Salutatorian Joe Tondera challenged everyone in his class "to embrace the opportunities presented in college. Even if this means hesitantly venturing out of your comfort zone, this may be the only way to discover your specific path to satisfaction." Following that same thread, Valedictorian Rohit Doad encouraged his class to start today and "strive for excellence. Strive for knowledge for knowledge's sake. Strive to remove yourself from life's race to stop chasing after life's fleeting moments, to instead, cherish each moment available."

Giving the Faculty Challenge to the Class of 2017 was Mr. Geoffrey Sudderth, introduced by Maggie Ricks in a stirring tribute as she explained that 'not only is he supportive, but he genuinely cares about each individual student at Deerfield-Windsor." Addressing the graduates, Mr. Sudderth challenged the graduates to be flexible, adaptable, and resilient as they leave Deerfield-Windsor and begin a new journey. With Sudderth's words lingering and the anticipation of beginning a new adventure, Flannery Daughtry closed the ceremony with her benediction expressing her thanks to God for "allowing all of us to come together one last time in the place we have called home for so many years."
