Deerfield-Windsor awards four academic scholarships each year -- two Honor and two Promise. (Memorial scholarships and financial aid are also available, and information can be found on these programs in the Admissions section of this website.)
Honor Scholarship
These scholarships are awarded each spring to two exceptional students, one entering the 6th grade and one entering the 9th or 10th grade in the coming fall. The Honor Scholarships are presented to students who are not currently enrolled at Deerfield-Windsor School. These full tuition awards remain in place as long as commendable academic and conduct records are maintained. More specifically:
- All candidates must be nominated by someone other than self or parents.
- All candidates must be enrolled in the 5th, 8th, or 9th grade at the time the application is made.
- No candidate may be a present or former student of Deerfield-Windsor or sibling of a former Honor Scholarship recipient.
- Candidates should be nominated by a Deerfield-Windsor parent or community leader.
- All candidates must present themselves for academic testing and personal interviews at specified date and time.
- The scholarships are awarded on the basis of academic potential, academic achievement, personal qualities, and other areas of talent.
- The scholarships are based on the merit of the student, not the need of the family.
- The scholarships are for the 6th, 9th, or 10th grade, but may be renewed annually upon satisfactory progress in all areas of school life.
- The final decision regarding winners is made by a committee of faculty/staff.
Promise Scholarship
Students who have attended Deerfield-Windsor for at least one year are eligible to apply for this half-tuition scholarship. Two non-renewable Promise Scholarships are awarded each school year.
- Presented to students currently enrolled in grades 9, 10, or 11
- Based primarily on academics; although, extracurricular activities are considered in the selection process
- Requires student to write an essay
