Before making the long awaited move to the Georgia High School Association, Deerfield-Windsor School was a powerhouse in the Georgia Independent Schools Association.
DWS joined the SAIS, which later became the GISA at its inception. During the history of DWS athletics, we grew to offer 19 sports for boys and girls, as well as offering a wide range of Middle School sports in which to compete.
Over the years, Deerfield-Windsor amassed 57 state titles and well over 100 region titles. As well as individual team titles, the athletic program as a whole won the GISA region 3-AAA Overall Athletic Award every year since its inception in 1999/2000. Not only has there been success on a regional level, but also on a state level. The department won the prestigious
Dr. Michael Drake Award on numerous occasions boasting the most successful athletic program in the GISA.
The 2020-2021 athletic season will no doubt demonstrate an enormous change for the Knights as they explore new territory for the first time in the GHSA. This season will mark a return to our “old foes” in teams like Mt. de Sales, Stratford Academy, First Presbytarian Day School and Tattnall Square Academy.
