As you prepare for the 2018-2019 school year, please review the following tabs to make sure you are ready for school. If you have any questions, please contact the applicable campus - Lower School at 229-883-3731 or Middle/Upper School at 229-435-1301.

Lower School

  • Immunization Forms - Each new student must have an up-to-date form on file by the first day of school.
  • Extended Day Program - If you need after school care for your student, please complete the necessary paperwork and turn in on the first day of school.
  • Homeroom Assignments - Letters will be mailed on August 1st to let students know who their homeroom teacher is for the 2018-2019 year.
  • School Supplies - A school supply list will be included in the letter from your child's homeroom teacher. Extra lists are also available in the Lower School office.
  • School Uniforms - Land's End is the school uniform vendor. Uniform guidelines can be found on the school website under Lower School, School Uniforms.
  • School Pictures - School pictures will be taken by a professional photographer on Wednesday, August 16. Class photos will be taken later in the school year.
  • School times - Lower School begins at 8:00 am for all students. Tardy slips are issued to all students arriving after 8:00am.
    Four Year Kindergarten dismisses at 1:30.
    Five Year Kindergarten dismisses at 2:30.
    Grades 1st, 2nd, & 3rd dismiss at 2:45.
    Grades 4th & 5th dismiss at 3:00.

    Please be patient during the first few days of school. Carpool always takes longer at the start of school. Your child's safety is our main concern. Please NO CELL PHONES during carpool!

Middle School

Immunization Forms - Every student must have an up-to-date form on file by the first day of school.

Students born on or after January 1, 2002, and entering or transferring into 7th grade - proof of whooping cough booster shot (Tdap) and meningococcal conjugate vaccine (MCV4). Proof of both vaccinations must be documented on the Georgia Immunization Certificate (Form 3231). Please provide this updated form to the school office.

Textbooks, workbooks and novels must be ordered in time for delivery before the first day of classes, Friday, Aug. 10th!

Go to the DWS Virtual Bookstore and choose your courses, then you will see ALL the books that you need.

School Supplies - A customized DWS planner will be issued on the first day of classes.

Thursday, August 9th

9:00 am - All 6th grade students and students in 7th & 8th grade who are new to DWS will meet in Media Center.

9:15 am - All 6th grade students and 7th & 8th graders new to DWS will get schedules, locker assignments and meet Advisors. Tour for 6th graders and new 7th & 8th graders.

Pictures will be taken for all 6th grade students and the new 7th & 8th graders during this time period. Students should be in dress code for pictures. The school store will be open if PE uniforms are needed. Students will not be asked to pay for PE uniforms or other charges. These items will be billed to their student accounts shortly after school begins.

10:30 am - Students are dismissed. Pick up at the horseshoe.

9 am to Noon - All returning students (7th & 8th grade) can stop by the school and get their schedule and organize their lockers. Attendance is not required.

7th grade - Stop by Mr. Pace's room to get your schedule.
8th grade - Stop by Mrs. Moore's room to get your schedule.

School pictures for returning 7th & 8th graders will be taken on Monday, August 13 during WATCH (12:50pm to 1:20pm).

Friday, August 10th will be a regular school day. Back to School paperwork will be given to students on the first day of school and it is should be returned to school no later than Wednesday, August 15.

Carpool Locations and Times -

Students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am. Students not picked up by 3:00 pm Monday - Thursday or 2:30pm on Friday will attend the D-Dub Club, the new middle school extended day programming.

Reminder - Middle school classes begin at 8am and dismiss at 3pm. Students begin later on Wednesdays - 9am and MS students dismiss at 2:30 pm on Fridays.

Seniors will meet at Porterfield United Methodist Church at 9:00am for Senior Boot Camp. Attendance is required.

Friday, August 10th will be a regular school day. Back to School paperwork will be given to upper school students during KnightLife on Monday, August 13 and it is should be returned to school no later than Wednesday, August 15.

Carpool Locations and Times - Students may be dropped off as early as 7:30 am. Students not picked up by 3:15pm must remain in the cafeteria to wait for their parents.

Lunch Accounts

If your child plans to eat in the school cafeteria, you MUST make a deposit into their lunch account in ParentsWeb by Monday, August 6th. Once logged into ParentsWeb, click FACTS. Lunch accounts are under the Prepay Accounts. Please contact Debbie Kromminga in the Business Office at 229-435-1301 press 5 with any lunch account questions.
